This is a video I’ve wanted to make for a few years now. We love making videos and we do love enjoying cocktails with friends, so when it came time to do some camera and editing pre-production tests it seemed like the perfect excuse to make this video. It might not feature skiing or the outdoors, but we’re very happy with the end result. Cheers!
A short video featuring Salomon athlete Mali Noyes enjoying some early morning mountain biking above Park City. This video was created from b-roll shot during a project for Hestra gloves and Ski Utah.
These are three photos Powder Mountain ran as ads in Backcountry magazine and Arkade magazine. Thanks to Powder Mountain for their continued support and strong relationship, and a big shout out to Chase Burch, Jim Forster, and Bryan Platter for their time and talents on the mountain.
We were lucky enough to film Olympians Ted Ligety and Kaylin Richardson as they enjoyed a morning of high speed groomer skiing at Deer Valley Resort, Park City, Utah. Video produced by Ski Utah.
This video was shot and edited in one day at Powder Mountain, Utah for Ski Utah. The video features Emma Morgan and Wyatt McGregor skiing on January 7, 2021.
Thanks to Alta Ski Area for being such gracious hosts for our Ski Utah video shoot to kick off the 2020-21 ski season here in Utah. Skiers: Charlotte and Dave Miller
It’s always a pleasure to work with great people while shooting in our home town. That was definitely the for this video. Dillon and Tyler Green, entrepreneurs and owners of Cache Inc., asked us to create a video to promote their Cache Basecamp System - a modular tailgate pad that includes removable chairs and cooler. With a relatively short timeframe to plan, shoot, and edit the video, we did a lot of pre-production planning for locations, shots, and transitions. This planning was invaluable in making the shoot go fast and relatively easy. With his many years in front of the camera for NBC Sports, Trace Worthington was the perfect choice to highlight the Basecamp System and provide the voice over narration.
We've been extremely lucky to explore so many inspiring places in the Western US. After many adventures we assumed we could always venture out and discover new places, meet amazing people, have some laughs, share a few cocktails, eat yummy meals in the mountains. This year challenged our assumptions, and made us even more aware of enjoying every day and every experience. While a lot of our plans have been modified, and our grand Canada trek has been indefinitely postponed, we are so grateful for the wonderful people and places in our own corner of this earth.
Yeah, it’s a bit early to think of skiing and snowboarding, but I came across this video I created last season for Lucky Slice Pizza and it made me smile. I’m enjoying summer, but my mind is already wandering to thoughts of playing in the snow covered mountains.
It has been a strange year, but while maintaining social distance and keeping our travels to the wild open spaces of the Intermountain West, we managed to still have a wonderful summer full of creativity, adventures, and fun times.
What’s better than winter and a wedding? The answer: not much. Here’s to the end of an interesting, but wonderful winter.
Here’s another video we created this season. Deer Valley Resort hosted the FIS World Cup Moguls and Freestyle Skiing Competition where the world’s top athletes in the sport came to compete for gold. This short promo was used by Deer Valley Resort and the US Ski Team to promote the event.
Hestra Gloves and Ski Utah approached us about creating a new series of videos highlighting people whose lives are primarily spent in the mountains of Utah. The goal of the videos is to emphasize the quality of life of these people, as well as the quality of Hestra’s gloves. Creatively the videos refrain from being flashy and quickly edited with an emphasis on story and delving more into the “off snow” aspects of these peoples lives.
The first in the series highlights Bridgette and Matt Meinhold. They live in a cabin near Park City that they have to access via snowmobile in the winter. Bridgette is a successful encaustic artist and Matt is both a Park City firefighter and a Ski Utah ski guide.
The first video below is a short one minute edit and the second video is the longer 4+ minute version. Enjoy!
Well, we’re off to a banger start to the season with all resorts open and firing on all cylinders after a massive dumping of snow over the past week. As something different from the standard winter video reel, I decided to focus on my hometown of Ogden, Utah where I work and play all year around. Starting with shots from around town I build up to shots taken in the backcountry above Ogden, at Snowbasin, and at Powder Mountain. Enjoy and pray for snow!
After a wonderful summer of traveling, exploring, and taking time off of shooting and editing video, it felt great to sit down and do a little editing work today. Kory Davis of the non-profit Ogden Avalanche is hosting a fund-raiser next month, so I was able to support him by putting together a short promo using a drone shot I got of Kory last season. It was also great to see an article in Ski Journal magazine featuring Kory and the Ogden Avalanche non-profit. It was doubly special to see some of my photos used for the story and online advertising.
My software is up to date, my cameras are cleaned and updated, my gear is organized, and my mind is slowly transitioning away from summer pursuits towards thoughts of exploring mountains covered in snow. Come on Winter!
Summer is the time to explore the glorious mountains of the high country. With a wonderfully wet & snowy winter behind us, we'll have longer to wait for the trails and high passes to open up, but it'll be worth it. We especially love the Wind Rivers, and this year we plan on making several multiple day forays into this amazing range. This week the latest issue of American Angler magazine hit the stands, and I'm happy to see a photo essay of mine included amongst so many insightful articles. The photo essay focuses on getting into the backcountry with my daughters and is a compilation of many trips we've enjoyed over the years. Hopefully, it'll inspire others to introduce their loved ones to the wonders of our natural landscape, so the next generation can continue to appreciate and protect what we have right here in our backyard.
What’s there to do between skiing and backpacking seasons? Actually, there’s plenty of fun to be had, but it’s also a good time to get down to southern Utah in the van. If it can be combined with a bit of work, then all the better. Susan Yoshikawa-Torres at Coldwell Banker hired me to produce this drone video to promote the sale of the home, and it was so nice to work for a couple days in such a beautiful area of the state.
